‘Twilight’ parody is a nightmare

Those damn movies make my life so hard these days

(Forks, Washington) One of the residents of a small, rainy town on the Pacific coast.

Our trip was taking us to the areas around Olympic National Park today, and while making our hotel reservations we noticed that this town en route is the setting of the teen vampire romance books/films Twilight–they even have a themed motel where young girls can await their fanged abductors in velvety rooms. And of course, numerous shops selling all sorts of franchise paraphernalia.

As the landscape photography projects of the day went dodo due to grey weather, I could not help myself but to rig a little strobe in front of the town sign (daylight photo example).

Self-portrait (focusing help from Tor), flash under camera with blule gel firing almost straight upwards at 1/128 strength and further dimmed by a pack of Fisherman’s Friends I happened upon in my pocket. Hopefully someone can vouch that I do not always look this evil 🙂

Slight crop and reduction of a very saturated blue face–and of course the small but obvious photoshopping in the teeth area–otherwise this photo is straight out of the camera.

Time from idea inception to this perhaps 20th attempt to get the lighting correct was no more than 30 minutes–a well spent break along the way; I must say I am rather pleased with my artistic muse on giving me this one. It hopefully bears no resemblance to any characters as portrayed in the movies (which I have not seen).

‘Twilight’ parody is a nightmare
The 80-minute nightmare “Vampire’s Suck,” which is meant to be a satirical jab at the ultra-popular “Twilight Saga,” is instead an alarming example of how to make a really bad movie.
