1905 “GOLD CERTIFICATE”?
Question by redwoodsap: 1905 “GOLD CERTIFICATE”?
I have a 1905 $ 20 Gold Certfifcate with Washington in the front. Its in great condition except for a few small spots. I have looked throught google.com, and it shows the note I have, but there all certified. Mine is uncertified, and is in my own plastic holder. I have no idea what the value is at today’s market prices. I have tried selling it through various auction sites, and was very unsucessful. If anyone out there know’s how much this certificate is worth, and where I can possibly sell or auction it, I will appreciate it. On the front of the note it says…………. Twenty Dollars In Gold Coin. Payable to the bearer on Demand. On the right of the note it has a red seal that has Washington DC written in script. Above Washingtons portrait it shows the #20 I gues meaning the denomination of the bill in gold. On the back it shows……… In the middle “Twenty Dollars” with an eagle in the circle. To the left and right it shows 20 on the left, and 20 on the right. On the bottom of the certificate on the back, it shows “Gold Certificate”. I would like to know its value as I dont even have a clue what its worth. Thanks

Take it to a coin dealer and ask him if he wants to buy it. The price he quotes will be between 1/3 and 1/4 of its real value. So, if he says $ 30, figure 90-100$ $ , but it should be worth more than that. Don’t sell it.
