My 9 year old step son will not stop coughing at times. Its very annoying, his father said hes had it his since he can remember and joey 9 year old tells me its nerves tick, which doesn’t make any sense! I want to know why he dose it ! its really hard watching a movie with someone constantly making small little coughs none stop!
Someone please give your opinion or if there are any docs out there that have a theory !
I’m to the point I want to take him to the docs, b/c his mother nor father act like its big deal.

Does he do it only when he is awake? Does he do it more while he is laying down? Is it just a small cough or does it sound like it is from the chest?
