Anybody know of any python messenger scripts?

Question by Jared: Anybody know of any python messenger scripts?
I want to eventually write a messenger program with python, but I am very inexperienced. If there is a pre-written python messenger program or someplace where I could just copy/paste the script from, I could build off that. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

The answer has three possible examples. One of them is not complete, but you might be able to see what they were trying to do and use it as a basis for your own app.
