If you ever wondered what Hollywood started out with in the way of computer animation i have two suggestions.

this video only gives a glimpse into the movie TRON, but if you watch it you’ll really see that it is and always has been a mile stone in movie making technology.

This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu5_33uRNzc talks about how a lot of the animation was done in 1980-1981 while making a movie that was shot 100% on a black back ground and how every light, set, everything was added by computer.

what it wont tell you is that at the time even the super computer it talks about could not display all of the graphics at once, so a lot of what the movie was shown was done in coding and not viewed in action untill it hit film.

Yes, but it was done by Disney Studios, who tried to fit computer graphics into their animation paradigm.
