What is the title of this movie?

Question by Erica Palmer: What is the title of this movie?
I saw a movie when I was a kid and I can’t remember the name of it. The movie was about the making of a movie. The movie within the movie was a period piece, civil war maybe.
The main character cheated on his wife. He taught his girlfriend how to remove the core from a head of iceberg lettuce. His wife then saw the girlfriend perform the trick and knew her husband was cheating on her.

The only one I can think of with the civil war movie making theme is Irreconcilable Differences.
