Question by Polythene Pam: People with knowledge about Dr/Patient ethics?
Here’s the scenario. A friend of mine has severe ADD to the point where she cannot even drive when not on medication. She also gets severely depressed and will self medicate and cannot work.
She finally found a Psychiatrist willing to try different options with her and as a result, her script was changed quite a few times, with the DR. charging her 40 per script. At no point did he warn her that the FDA watches these prescriptions of controlled substances. The pharmacy flagged her, reporting that she was either selling/abusing the drug. (adderal) She only made 2 mistakes, 1 partial loss of meds, and mistaking filling an old script. She was called into the office and the DR tried to terminate the relationship, and said he would prescribe no more controlled substances or treat her at all, fully knowing that no DR would ever want to see her, that her mental health would deteriorate severely. He made a comment he was one of the top prescribers in the state. Is this ethical?
PS, if he refuses to see her is there any recourse she can take, and where can I find specifics on Dr/patient ethics?
Why is it that everyone with a negetive opinion of my friend has a blocked e mail? This is not a forum to express negetive opinions, it is a forum to seek answers, of which I only got a few sincere ones. Happy 2 points.

Again, all you nay-sayers, I asked for “people with knowledge” not for “people with opinions” you know the old adage, “opinions are like assholes, everyone has one”…
