Question by Alex: Is the movie “Idiocracy” a valid argument that technology is making people stupid?
I was with my friend and a friend of his, after i just said “If i had a computer I could find out when this game was released”. He then began talking about the movie and how a lot of people are becoming dumb thanks to technology. One of his examples he gave me were that if we just plug numbers into a formula and have a calculator solve it, then we don’t know how to solve the math only the calculator does. But my argument is “When we write books, does it make us dumb because we have to write down all of our thoughts? I watched the movie and it does not talk about technology making us dumb, but it does say that people with lower IQs are having more children, outnumbering more intelligent people. So that eventually we will all be dumb, by the year 2500.

i have never seen the movie… but i do agree that with ‘technology’ comes ignorance and dependency…
i also believe that it is not technologies fault for persons banality, for technology is not a thinking entity… and is created by humans, but it is the human who CHOOSES to become dependent on technology, as opposed to become independent of it…
