What would be the best program for me to use?

Okay! so I want to make AMVs and some of those _____ vs _____ videos to post on YouTube. I need to find a new movie maker/editor program to use. I used to use Windows Movie Maker & Windows Movie Maker 2.6, but…WMM always freezes, and never saves anything I make, WMM 2.6 doesn’t freeze(and if it does it’s only like 1/2 a second) but I can’t seem to save anything on there, or import music from iTunes. Many of my friends suggest Sony Vegas 9, orv Corel Video Studio 12, but…..I’m 14 , don’t have the $ to buy the software for $ 49.99, and my parents? forget it! So bottom line is i need someone to find me an excellent working movie program(it would be nice if it came with tons of special effects options!), that has no viruses, is fast, can save movies 10 minutes+ without any problems(unlike WMM), Is able to save movies in a file that can be used to upload on YouTube!!!!! (MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL), and lastly it has…to…be…FREE*!

~Help full Information~

– I have Windows Vista Home Premium
– Have Toshiba Laptop (probably un-important isn’t it?)

I think that’s all I need to say isn’t it? Am I missing anything important?

P.S. Is anything required, for the program I need?

this only helps you partially, but i had the exact same issue with wmm. Sometimes it would be locked up 20 min and start working. There’s actually a free upgrade available for it in windows live essentials. Download it. It for what ever reason removes a couple of capture sources such as tv tuners, but other than that it is more feature-filled.
