I am going to make a movie on Windows Movie Maker. Then which file should I make it into?
DV-AVI (NTSC)
High quality video (NTSC)
Video for broadband
Video for LAN
Video for Pocket PC
etc.
I know that after that I should put the file in a dvd making software such as Roxio and Ulead (which I have) but I am not sure how I should save the Windows Movie Maker file.
One time I saved it as DV-AVI (NTSC) and then put it on Roxio. It worked but only on a certain DVD player I had.
Other times when I make videos on Roxio (home videos that are in format AVI, not from windows movie maker), all my DVD players play it properly.
I need to make a project for school and my teacher is very picky about the DVD to work on the DVD player at school.
I’m just worried that it won’t play for some reason at school or on certain DVDs.

Another option is to save it into my DV Camer and then download the video again directly into Roxio.
Will that work better? (I’ve never tried that before)

If you are creating the file using moviemaker then you should save it in the best format available….the NTSC part is the encoding which is standard for US video. If its a file that already exists and you are editing it then pull it into your burning software and just choose to create a dvd-video. The only compatibility issues you may come across is not the format (figuring you are selecting to “create a dvd”) is the disc type….some players only plar dvd-r and some dvd+r….most will play dvd-r and a few will play dvd+rw or dvd-rw so, your best bet is to make 2 copies, one on -r and one on +r and forget about any rewritable discs as most standalone players will not recognize the rewritable because it generally isn’t a “finalized” disc. So choose High quality video (NTSC)
and use your burning program to create a dvd and burn 2 different types of discs.
Your final option is, as you mentioned its on your camera? Its possible to just edit the file and leave it on the camera and then bypass the dvd altogether, just hook it up to the tv directly using the camera…..if thats possible.
