How can I make my bedroom look more grown up?

I’m 18 now, however I’ve always had the problem of not being able to throw things away. I have a lot of little nicknack’s, from africa inspired candles to dream-catchers and hot pink trash bins. Problem is, is that a lot of this stuff I feel guilty if I put away b/c I got it from someone special, or I just think there would be/could be practical use for it. I have a square bedroom with paneled walls, two are a light (almost see-through) white – the other two are a dim grey/bluish tinted color. All walls were recently colored so it is out of the question to change them. I also have a lot of drawings, b/w posters and pictures and a colorful poster from a festival I was at. I also have TONS of jewelry, scarfs, files and papers I have to keep, movies/CD’s, etc. Also, the most annoying thing would be a big reddish brown closet I have, that I can’t paint b/c it is going to stay with the family when I move out. I want to make my room more modern and mature, as well as romantic and personal. Anyone who can advise with tips and tricks? All help is wonderful! Thank you!!

By the way, I live in Norway so I can’t get to all the same stores, etc as Americans…
