Videos from my JVC camera won’t show up on Sony Movie Maker?

Question by Michelle: Videos from my JVC camera won’t show up on Sony Movie Maker?
I got a JVC camcorder, and I wanna make short movies out of the videos, but the only program i can watch them on is the jvc program. I need to see (and hear) it on sony movie maker and windows media.
Sorry, Sony Vegas. Forgot for a sec.
And its hard disk drive.

Which JVC camcorder?

If hard disc drive or flash standard definition, then you need to convert the highly compressed .MOD files to something Vegas (or MovieMaker) can use… StreamClip is a comprehensive video converter

If hard disc drive or flash high definition (highly compressed AVCHD), then you need to be using the CURRENT version of Sony Vegas that can deal with AVCHD – older versions won’t work.

Sony does not make “MovieMaker” – Microsoft does. MovieMaker is bundled with Windows XP (SP2) or newer operating system. It is not a very good editor. Sony Vegas is an excellent video editor and is not bundled with anything – you buy it separately.
