Movie making a book made up of only letters?

Question by Kirstyn: Movie making a book made up of only letters?
My friends and I are going to make a movie about a book that we really like. The problem is, is that it is written almost entirely in letters exchanged between the characters. We’ve come up with some ideas like when they talk about when they hung out to actually do the scene where they hang out and such. We’ve also thought of changing one of the scenes to a phone call. If you have any ideas as to what we could do that would be greatly appreciated.

Making a movie out of a book of letters is not unprecedented. For example most of the movies of Anne Frank were made up of her diary entries which were basically letters to herself. And the original Dracula novel was a series of letters. My recommendation would be to read a book of letters that has been adapted to a screen play then watch the movie and follow along with the script.
You’ll have to improvise scenes a lot, but that’s all part of film making. Good Luck!
