Radiohead – Meeting People Is Easy [1/10]
Director: Grant Gee Following the British rock band Radiohead on their exhaustive world tour (after the success of their 1997 album “OK COMPUTER”), the film is a collage of video clips, sound bites, and dialogue going behind the scenes with the band as they travel the world. It show us the eventual burn-out of the group as their world tour progresses. The world tour that is the subject of Meeting People Is Easy has subsequently been admitted as a low point for the band, specifically Thom Yorke, who had a near-breakdown. This would form the background of Radiohead’s recording sessions beginning in 1999 for their next albums Kid A and Amnesiac, inspiring a different songwriting and recording style and the band’s changed sound after OK Computer. Thom Yorke, lead singer of Radiohead claims that Meeting People Is Easy is a 94-minute message to any younger bands who might envy Radiohead’s high-flying lifestyle. And that message is: “Don’t even think about it.”
