Windows XP, windows media player video problems and screen saver problems?

Question by lucygirl054: Windows XP, windows media player video problems and screen saver problems?
Not too long ago, a family member installed windows service pack 3 on the family computer. Ever since this service pack 3 was installed, my windows media player plays videos very very dark, to the point I cant see them clearly. Other video players also do this too, and I cant make out any of the movies I make. This is even as bad as effecting a couple of the screensavers on the computer, making it look like the computer is off, even if it really isnt, other family members HAVE turned it off, thinking it was off and that they were turning it on, because the screen saver was so dark it was almost impossible to see short of putting your face two inches to the screen (and causing some people who left their accounts on, to lose large chunks of projects they have been working on). Nothing else seems to be affected by the brightness (or lack thereof) issue, the desktop is fine, and all the other programs run in ideal color as per the monitor. None of this ever happened when we had SP2 on the computer, but the night the family computer was upgraded to service pack 3 (not too long ago), this became a problem. Sometimes making videos is part of my job, so you can see my problem with this, otherwise I wouldnt think much of it.I dont know what it is about SP3, or the changes, or possible conflicts SP3 might have with my windows XP, I have looked in other forums, websites, but have not found any answers to my specific problem. Can anyone help?

Right click the Desktop and choose Properties and go to Settings tab. There click the advanced button and in your graphic cards properties increase the brightness.
You can also increase the brightness in you monitor directly by using the appropriate buttons.
