Question by Film School: Can I record a cover version of a Copyrighted song and use it in a film I am making?
I want to record a cover version of a copyrighted song and use it in a movie I am making. I know that if I wanted to use the original version it would cost a lot of money and I would need permission, but I want to know if the same rules apply if I record my own version. Maybe I still need permission, but the fee is less? I have no idea so hopefully someone out there can help me with this.
