We have a group project to make a movie about businessmen suffering of job loss and looking for jobs during the depression. We have to put music in the video too. What were some music that was around then?

Ironically most Depression music was “happy” themes as songwriters wrote tunes to get people’s minds off the bad times. So things like “Pennies from Heaven”, “Beyond the Blue Horizon”, “I Got Rhythm”, “On the Sunny Side of the Street”, “Happy Days Are Here Again”, “Puttin’ On The Ritz”, “Minnie the Moocher”, “Lazy River” and “Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries” were among hits in 1930 and 1931.

The one most people think of as Depression music though is Bing Crosby’s 1932 hit “Brother, Can you Spare a Dime?”.
