I have Time Warner cable and I don’t want to scroll through all the channels and movies that I will never purchase. Is there a way to take them off of the guide or blank them somehow? I know other cable providers at least color-code them in some way.

This is a function of the set-top box. Check the menu if you can create a list of “favorites”. Any decent set-top box has that functionality. Even most TVs have now a “favorites” menu.
