Question by Popifun: i have written a movie script but i don’t want just to sell the rights?
i want to participate in the finding of the cast or even be part of it. what should i do? can this happen? (no acting career or anything just give it a shot – i think i’m good)

I’m not an expert, but as far as I know if you are a first time writer (sorry- bad phrasing. Basically means if you have never sold a screenplay before) and the studio are interested in your screenplay they will buy it off you and give it to other writers who work for them to make adjustments. It may not ever get produced, some films were sold 20 years ago but have never been made. Finding the cast is not a writers job. Directors, producers and casting agents will do this. If you want your film to be produced you have to sell the rights! If it did get made it may be totally unrecognizable from the original script that you wrote. Other writers could make loads of changes and directors may rewrite parts of it and actors may change the lines.
