Any tips on selling ideas? (10 points)?

Question by nikki.fira: Any tips on selling ideas? (10 points)?
I have an ‘Idea Journal’ almost halfway full of ideas and more are coming into my head as i type. My ideas are not overused (fairly original, if my research proves accurate.) and are not too bad. I can mange to write at least a half-page of a synopsis, and at LEAST a few pages worth of an introduction/first chapter.

But, I never have time or motivation to finish a story or write a script. I just get too many ideas and other projects going at once.

Many of my friends have suggested that I sell my ideas/half a script to a scriptwriter or something. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions or tips on how a 16-year old could go about doing that.

I am not full of myself, nor am I looking to get rich and/or famous by doing this. My ideas are my children that I (normally) give away. I just want some smidgen of credit. (Although, getting paid would be nice.)

My mum says that I should get a patent or copyright or whatever for each idea, so that I get my name on it and get credit, as well as keeping Hollywood or someone from messing with my idea and calling it their own.

Does anyone have any advice or resources for a 16 year-old to begin selling/planning to eventually sell her ideas to some sort of scriptwriter or author? (I’m not sure if authors do that kind of thing…)

How old do you have to be to do this kind of business?
Where to start out small and work my way up? I’m willing to do some sort of internship, if applicable.
How much does a copyright/patent cover? Just the general idea, or the whole excerpt of the story I send?
Generally, when writing an idea, I can manage to expand it and get at least half a page worth of introduction/first ‘chapter’ down, so does that qualify as a ‘written work’ or not?
How much does one generally charge, or does the copyright determine that?
Do you stay with the idea the whole way (like an editor or a BETA) or do you just drop the idea and then it’s forbidden? Will the writer be able to contact me for something that might be considered unclear or anything?
What about the “Creative Commons License” Doesn’t that apply only to artwork?

Thank you VERY much, and ten points for the best answer.
I know that ideas alone cannot be copyrighted, so I generally add some sort of introduction. (at least a page worth of information and/or possible scenes)

Is this introduction/first chapter considered a ‘written work’ or will my idea still be (as my friend puts it) ‘vulnerable’?

As far as I know you can’t copyright an idea.
