Question by samantha_iles: A Tax question.Pertaining to a restitution order and amendment of taxes?
I need to know ho to file on my taxes the following, i was court ordered tp pay restitution for an issue, long story ( Ex Husband ), how do i file that on my taxes,as i sold a script and the amount i received for the script sale went straight to paying the restitution, so i did not benefit from it. So i need to know how to file this on my taxes so i do not get taxed on it or am i taxed on it, what schedule do i file, and do i need the Tax ID info from my EX as that who it got paid to, ie his SSN or fed tax id #. Also does the IRS recognize civil court order to amend my taxes.
Thank you.

What you did with the money is of no importance to the IRS. You must STILL show the income on your tax return.
The IRS is going to see this as a non-taxable property settlement. Only if it’s alimony (which it isn’t) can you take a deduction for it.
