Am I making a bad decision?

Question by PC VS Mac: Am I making a bad decision?
I have asked enough questions regarding Notebooks, but I think I am close to buying a Dell XPS M 1710.

The reasons are as listed below.

#1 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™

#2 Processor Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB)

#3 120GB SATA Hard Drive

#4 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS

# 5 The notebook is heavy yes, like 10 pounds, but is very attractive.

The price would be $ 2,600 USD… Do you think I am wasting my money?

I need the notebook to do my work, email, music, Movie and play high performance games.

Dell also has good customer service, as long as you keep upgrading your warranty. They will not hesitate to replace anything, and they don’t ask much questions. Plus, best way to communicate with them is through VIA live chat on their website.
But am I making a mistake?

I say that you are. If you NEED a laptop, then get both a cheap laptop and a nicer desktop. Spend $ 2600 if you really think that you need to spend that much, and your laptop can cost $ 500-600 and your PC can cost $ 1000 and you’ll be able to get a 20″LCD monitor for your PC and have more than enough computing power for everything you’ll ever need.

Also, most software in their EULA will let you install on more than one PC as long as you only use one at a time, and since you will be the sole user, you don’t need to worry about that!

That’s what I did for college and I never regretted my decision. In fact, I realized after a while that a laptop was more distraction than anything else, so I sold it to a friend and kept just the desktop. I will never get a laptop ever again for personal use, they are just impractical from where I’m concerned.

Take care, I hope this helps.
