‘Wicked’ wins trial by box office, comes to Fresno
Ben Brantley, the powerful theater critic for the New York Times, was wobbly over “Wicked” when it opened in 2003. He opined that audiences should be grateful for Kristin Chenoweth in the role of Glinda because she “provides the essential helium in a bloated production.” To this day, the producers are still smiling over that one.
