Any idea for a 3D movie I can make?
Question by Anonymous: Any idea for a 3D movie I can make?
I’m making a movie for my film class and I really want to wow them as possible. So I decided to make a 3D movie you know like a hand coming out of the screen. But I can’t come up with a plot that I can do in a 3D movie. So does anybody have an idea or plot that I can do in a 3D movie? If you give me the idea or plot I will give you full credit.

Before coming up with a plot, it’s better to think of what meaning or purpose you want the film to have.
If you want to make it 3d, then what meaning can be attributed to justify using the effect?
I would suggest making the film an experiment of people’s comfort levels. When I watch a scary film, I reassure myself that it’s only a film. I would not like it to escape that confinement, and I would not like to participate in the horror.
I once saw a 3d film where a group of flies buzzed around right up close in front of my face, and it made me want to waft them away, but it was incomfortable, because I couldnt. Im not saying to copy the idea, but build on the same basis.
Its about making the audience feel good about themselves. Your forcing them a little outside their comfort level, so that when the film is over, they feel they have accomplished something.
Or make the film about escape, retell the story of Pandora’s Box, and use the effect for the things escaping the box. Or, make it about a prison escape, and have 3d cell bars in front of the action all the way through the film until the escape at the end, when they should be removed.
To be honest though, the best way to wow a film class audience is to use impressive techniques, eg cinematography, lighting, mise en scene, narrative etc. People who get wow’d by 3D effects etc are more likely to be studying photography, animation or computer technology. Film students will be more impressed with your talent, not the quality of a special effect program.
Maybe not an answer to your question, but I hope that is more valuable. Report back after the premiere so we all know what you decided to go with, and how it was reacted to!
Best of luck!
