Are there any good free/cheap movie making softwares?

Question by thegirlwiththecurlyhair: Are there any good free/cheap movie making softwares?
I’ve been using windows movie maker and I’m sick of it because it has limited capabilities. I have windows 7 on my laptop at the moment and I was wondering if there are any good movie making/video editing soft-wares that I could get for free, or that don’t cost a lot.
