Twilight was first optioned by MTV Films, Paramount Pictures, and Maverick Films to potentially become a film, although this deal lapsed in April 2007. It was then optioned by Summit Entertainment. After fifteen months, Summit will have the opportunity to buy it. While Stephenie Meyer has a request of celebrities who will do the parts for the possible film on her official Twilight website, she does not have influence on the movie’s production, so her list may be different than the potential movie’s cast. Any new developments will be announced on Meyers’s website. Catherine Hardwicke has signed on to direct the film, while Melissa Rosenberg has been signed on to write the script. on Stephenie Meyer’s official website. It has now been announced on Stephenie’s website that the movie has been optioned by Summit Entertainment and they are eager to protect the story and begin filming, as-of July 2007.
