Can I use a still frame from a movie to make a point in a biz website without violating copy right?
Question by framosbiz: Can I use a still frame from a movie to make a point in a biz website without violating copy right?
I am making an anti-geek squad computer repair company, no mention of geek-squad, just that we are a “Geek free company” that’s our moto… but before i launch this website, I want to know before tomorrow if it is safe to use the still picture of “Ogre” in a locker room pissed off about to scream “Nerrrrrrds!” It is not a video, just a still pic.. Can I still use it to make a point and just acknowdge copy right from the actual movie on the side of the still pic and not get in legal trouble?

I do not believe that you can do so without violation of copyright.
A movie is actually a sequence of still frames, and the copyright includes every frame within that movie.
I feel that you are treading on thin ice in this situation, since you are trying to use it on a for-profit venture.
