On the other hand, Edge described Cloud as an example of “excellent design and characterization.” They also commented that his design “inspired many a Japanese teen to adopt his exact spiky, yellow hairstyle.” His development in Advent Children was praised by Todd Douglass Jr. from DVD Talk as one of the best parts from the film. Famitsu issue #1103 featured Cloud on its cover and gave him a seven-page tribute, showing his many appearances through the years.
