Pornography has caused many relationship breakups, divorces, caused many people become addicted to seek sexual gratification outside of their relationship either in secret or openly, has caused many to cheat, etc. Many porn ‘stars’ regret what they have done in the past, it’s created them to rely on drugs & alcohol, some have committed suicide. It has gone into child porn, which is wide spread on the internet.

All this and more has happened because porn is legal. Do you think it would be better if porn would become illegal? Why do we need to watch other naked people to get our kicks? Would it still excite you if you knew that that young woman was forced to make a movie, tricked into it or ended up killing herself a few days later because she hated herself for doing that film?

Banning porn would be like banning alcohol and we’ve all learned about prohibition. The fact is that the adult entertainment business is positively booming and there’s no real end in sight. Making it illegal will only harbor a black market for it. And the idea of child pornography is not something new or something that has only come about with the advent of the internet. It’s always been around and now, thanks to the internet, it’s easier to track these sickos and prosecute them for their crimes. I don’t agree with you that porn “makes” people cheat, and blaming it for a failed relationship is naive and irresponsible. The fact is that without or without porn, most, if not all, of those relationships you speak of would have failed anyway. Looking at naked people fully engaged in sexual activity has nothing to do with the real heart of the problem.

I’m not saying that porn is completely harmless, but nothing in life is. The government has taken steps toward reforming it, and the industry itself has begun taking greater safety measures. As for people regretting their decisions to participate in it, that’s a personal issue and something they should have considered before taking off their clothes.
