Don’t you think the screenplay writer has the most important job in making a movie?
Question by : Don’t you think the screenplay writer has the most important job in making a movie?
We know the movies by their directors’ name. They usually write the names of the directors and the actors on movies poster and covers. But I think the story and the screenplay is the most important particle of a movie. I think the heart of a movie is the screenplay. We can forget about bad acting if the story is beautiful and interesting and well written.
Don’t you think they have exaggerated the role of the director? I think directors just assemble the movie; a good movie needs good assembling though, but I believe it’s not as important as the screenplay.
What do you think? Would you correct me if I’m wrong?

I think what we _as general viewers_ like is usually the screenplay. But nobody notices the writer. I myself know the names of several directors and actors, but just a few writer…

Scripts are rewritten, and reworked, and directors make changes to them all the time. A director can’t make a great movie out of a bad script, but he can make it better. He can also make an unwatchable movie out of the best script in the world.
