Good Movie Making Camera to Start With?
Question by Tom: Good Movie Making Camera to Start With?
What would be the movie making equivalent to a mid-class Nikon or Canon SLR? It seems everyone wants to experiment with the good quality photo cameras, but is there a good quality movie camera i could experiment with? like good sound, picture and controls?
And what other equipment would be basic need too?

If you are talking about Video DSLR, then this is what I would recommend for under $ 1000
Canon T2i
Nikon 3100
Sony A55
Panasonic GH1 ( sometimes, you have to look for the sales)
I am very impressed with the auto focus of the A55.It is very fast. All of these camera deliver good quality video and stills. If you want a camera though that has manual video control as well, only the T2i has them at this price point.
If you are serious about this area, I would probably bite the bullet and get the Canon 7D instead. It probably the best DSLR video camera available now.
Other things you will need
1. Lights
2. Reflectors
3.Microphones
4.Tripod
5.Rail System
6.External monitor
7. Lots of external hardrive space
You should also choose carefully what editing system you want to use. Some camera movie files work better in different software. I always recommend Final Cut Pro but it is Mac based so it is not always practical for everyone.
