Good movie making software?

Question by Told You So: Good movie making software?
So i need to make a digital story for my history class about nazis. What are some video softwares i can use? i have windows movie maker but its not very helpful (although it is an older version). Id rather not spend any money buying stuff so free and downloadable would be best! i need it to be able to do slides with pictures and text, put in videos, audio, music, transitions the works

windows movie maker. comes free on every PC and can do all that, but t=you might have some music trouble if you downloaded the music from the interwbz rather than a CD, but a CD should work. and if you dont have it for some bazaar reason, download it free from MC.
