The story of FernGully is that of a rainforest and its fairy inhabitants being threatened by humans encroaching on their land as well as the evil Hexxus, a spirit of destruction that is toxic to all of nature. The best part of the film is Robin Williams’ voicework as Batty Koda, a comical fruit bat. Little girls will love this film but even boys and adults can find something fin in the film, from the comical fruit bat to the colorful visuals.

The Pagemaster

This children’s fantasy/adventure film starring Macaulay Culkin and Christopher Lloyd is a fun ride through literature and fantasy with Culkin playing Richard Tyler, a young boy with many fears and a life based around mathematics and numbers. That life is thrown into upheaval when he is transformed into an illustration while exploring a library. In the fantasy world he comes face to

face with his fears in the form of “books” voiced by Patrick Stewart as Adventure, Whoopi Goldberg as Fantasy and Frank Welker as Horror. Richard must make it past the trials of the books to escape from the animated world. “The Pagemaster” is a great movie for kids because it opens up the world of literature in a fun way as well as teaches them to confront their fears so they can live a better life.
