I just saw a movie from 1999 directed by David Lynch, called
“The Straight Story”.
I won’t say what it’s about, other than to say, every scene in the movie can be taken literally, but also, metaphorically for the stages of life. It’s one of the most brilliant movies I’ve ever seen.
It’s based on a true story, but Lynch uses tools like symbolism to make it speak about something much larger.
The dialogue is few and far between…the cinematography is utterly breathtaking, shot in Iowa and Wisconisn in late summer and fall.
The actor, is so real you feel like you know him personally.
I’m just floored. The poignant simplicity, yet symbolic complexity, of this movie. It’s a true work of art.
Has anybody seen it?
And if so, was it a cathartic experience for you to?
