How can a 16 year old get a jump start in a film career?
Question by element6: How can a 16 year old get a jump start in a film career?
Well my dream is to become a film producer and screenwriter. I live in Maryland. What things can I do that will help me get into film. Should I make short movies and show it to people. Should I write scripts and sell those for people. I want to study engineering or business in college and minor in film so I have something to fall back to if film doesn’t workout.
Got any suggestions?

well ur either a junior or sophmore in high school. i am going to be a junior as well. i have been doing digital media my entire high school career. i am a director/editor/screenplay/cinematographer. if you wnat to make yourself good you need to know a little bit of everything. my group that makes our films slash short films enters them into san diegos student film festival called the ivies. where ever you live im sure one of the major cities has a student film festival. my advice is to enter yourself into as many of those festivals as possible. not with just one movie to. try to make more than one. that is a good way to get yourself noticed to any college or any one else important that watches those films. i strongly reccomen that you make as many films as possible. the more you write the better writer you will become. if you consider yourlsef a very good writer than i would , in the future, look in to small idependent film companies looking for good ideas to make a movie on and then work your way up.
