Question by steelhitman12456: How do i show a video thats 16:9 on a tv thats 4:3?
i just bought a dvd burner and i’m going crazy with burning different movies i’ve downloaded off the internet on dvds to build my movie collection. i;ve run into a problem tho. the dvd burning software that came with the burner isn’t very advanced, just enough to burn the files to the dvd and make it so it plays in almost any standard dvd player. this makes it so that the movies that are actually 16:9 get burned onto the dvd at 16:9 and then are squished into the 4:3 letterbox display of my tv. Does anyone know of freeware that can convert the 16:9 into 4:3 widescreen with the bars at the top, or better yet, does anyone know if there is a way i can have the 16:9 show up as 4:3 widescreen with the bars on my tv even tho it is encoded on the disc as 16:9 fullscreen?

You should be able to change the screen format on your tv from 16:9 to 4:3 to match your video, it will look a little funny though.
