How does my internship resume look?

Question by WeAreDoneProfessionally: How does my internship resume look?
I am applying for a summer intership, could you tell me how my resume looks? At the moment, it is about a page and a half. I have omitted my personal information, and put XXXs where it was. Also, it is for a comedy media company. I am part of a comedy band who has performed at a few prestigious comedy clubs in New York, should I include this on my resume? Also, as part of my band, I have received some great reviews from a few famous celebrities, should I include their quotes somewhere, maybe in the cover letter? Take a look and let me know, thanks!

Honestly? It could use some work.

Objective – outdated. You need to state what YOU can do for this comedy media company, not what you are looking for.

Coursework – explain how it relates to his company in the cover letter.

Production Assistant – Your verb tenses are all over the place!! Get some stronger verbs in there. Search for POWER VERBS.

Promotor – do you have any numbers or hard facts you can throw out? I.E. increased revenue by 50%?

Counselor – how this related to this position you want? If it’s not, then take it out. You were only there for a few monhts and didn’t do anything really appropriate to your internship.

Skills – rewrite the computer section, take out CPR certified (once again, irrelevant to the internship), take out customer service, take out communication. Both customer service and communication should be proved in the above job experience, not explained. I know that this is what they teach in resume building, but it’s not reality.

Overall, you have a great base for a great resume. Just remember to cut it short, use those power verbs, get the verb tenses on the same path and make your resume FUN. Right now it reads like a boring old resume. Make it POP with your personality!
