Trailers can influence audience members to see a film or to not see it, depending on the material shown.

What makes a trailer effective is the quality of the movie or the scenes shown. Unfortunately, sometimes the only good scenes are the ones shown in the trailer, and anyone who attends the actual film is disappointed.
