Robert Altman, for instance, got into film that way. He just sold a script to RKO and they made it. But how rare is that kind of thing?

As anyone who’s ever made it can tell you, its mostly about luck and meeting the right people, for example Harrison Ford gave up acting and became a carpenter, one day a Mr Lucas called him to fit some shelves, they became friends and the rest is history. Many people are aspiring actors and writers but the minority demographic actually do. It’s very sad but hopefully one day you too will be lucky, you just have to keep it up until then
