How long a movie can my digital camera make?

Question by Chaco-Yekke Downyonder: How long a movie can my digital camera make?
I have a Samsung ES55 with a 4GB card.
Strangely, it seems to shut itself off after an entirely arbitrary length of time.
The first movie I made lasted 3 minutes, the other one 2 and a half before the camera decided “enough is enough”.
That gave me around 250 to 300 MB of film respectively.
Doesn’t it use up the full 4GB of storage space though?
If so, how come?
I want to make longer films. 10 minutes would be good.

It should keep recording until the memory is full. You may want to check the settings. There may be some setting that is limiting your video, that or there may be some malfunction. . .
