How to Build a Deck Storage Box Part 1: Deck Box Frame Assembly

Adding a deck box to your outdoor patio or deck is great for storage. With just a few steps, learn how to make a deck storage box frame. The frame consists of 2 end assemblies and 2 rectangular assemblies. Start by cutting all 16 pieces to length with a miter saw. For this deck box, you can use cedar, pine or redwood. Which ever style agrees with your style will work, just make sure it is sturdy and weather proof. Once the holes are cut to size, begin to assemble the pieces. Using a pocket hole jig, create pocket holes on the inner ends of the pieces to make for easy assembly. Apply glue and screw the pieces together to build the frame. Next cut the legs to length and attach to the assemblies. Be sure to check for square while assembling this box. Finally attach the cleats and slats to the bottom of the box base by gluing them down then attaching with a nail gun.
