How to edit a video and what to use?

Question by Kamren: How to edit a video and what to use?
I am very good with technology and editing videos, however I do not how to merge one video into another. I’m not saying use MovieMaker and make a movie with crap effects. I am talking about taking one video and literally having that one play on top of the other one. An example is like two videos, one of a man walking, and one of a woman walikng. How could I get those two to play at the same time? And what could I use to do it?
