How to I get a job serving at a nice restaurant?
Question by transatlantacism: How to I get a job serving at a nice restaurant?
I just moved to the city away from my little tiny hometown and I want to get a job waiting tables so that I can make a little more money and hopefully pay rent.
I have been working since I was 16, always in the food service industry.
I worked at Taco Bell for two years, a pizza place/movie theatre/pub for three years, and at Starbucks for almost three years.
I transferred to another Starbucks here in the city so I currently have a job, but I want to wait tables at a nice restaurant so that I can make good tips.
I’m just looking for some helpful advice on the best way to get a job at one of these restaurants. I don’t have any actual experience waiting tables unfortunately. And since i’ve always been working and never really looking for a job, I don’t even have a resume. What’s a good website on how to make a resume for the food service industry and does anyone know of anything special I could put on one to give me an edge?
I know there isn’t some surefire secret trick that will guarantee me a job, but just any advice anyone has, no matter how specific or general would be appreciated.
