How to make a war movie script better?
Question by Gerard Heime: How to make a war movie script better?
I’m writing a script for a war movie. The story is good (not excellent, but good) – but that doesn’t matter right now. My director wants something that’s super original and seen never before in a war movie. Like Academy Award-grade. AND it has to be in the plot, not special effects, film editing etc.I just need a way to spice up the plot or tell the story from an unfamiliar point of view… I dunno. Something extraordinary.
The story is about two soldiers who became friends when their nations were allies (and fighting a common foe) but now are enemies because, after the foe was defeated, their countries attacked each other.
I’m really counting on your ideas, my whole work is at stake here.

copyright issues here, be careful.
bring in personal issues: like the country Y is planning a seize in X’s town and Y is heading the team.
or Y married X’s sister and depending on the sister’s stand the relationship between her and either Y or X is strained.
okay out of point
but good luck (:
how about a suggestion:
watch random movies and try to imagine everything as a battlefield.
