I converted a movie to my iPod Nano (3rd Gen) and it skips! Is that even supposed to happen on a flash drive?
Question by Chris: I converted a movie to my iPod Nano (3rd Gen) and it skips! Is that even supposed to happen on a flash drive?
Alright, this is just bugging the crap out of me and I really hope someone has a solution. I got an 8 gigabyte iPod Nano 3rd gen, completely up to date on software and runs great. All other video I have ever put on it (converted or otherwise) runs nice and smooth.
But this one movie I converted (at a high bitrate even) skips. The sound is just fine, but it seems when I enter a part that has a lot of high speed animation (animated part CGI movie – Origin: Spirits of the Past btw), it skips. For one, I thought that being a flash drive, it should have no problems with keeping up with files.
Even when I reconverted the movie at a lower bitrate, it still skipped, even worse in fact. I don’t know. Is there anyone know any tricks to ensure the movie can play smooth or is it simply possible for even a Nano to not be able to smoothly play the more complex type movies? I dunno. I hope I’m making sense here because I’m just upset. I chose this over the Classic solely for the purpose of having a flash drive that has faster access than a hard drive in the Classic.
Also: This is the complete movie off the DVD itself. I have done this with several other movies and this one is in new condition and plays just fine. Heck, I played it off my computer from my iPod and it plays perfectly smooth. Yet when I play it on the iPod itself is when it skips.
I have 1 Click DVDtoiPod, which is rated as one of the best converters there is. It’s not the format, trust me. It’s something to do with the iPod itself. I find it hard to believe the iPod can’t keep up with the framerate of this particular movie when it plays all other movies smoothly.

maybe u accidently bought a clip of the movie instead of the full version. otherwise, you should just delete the video you bought from your ipod, and try watching it on your itunes, if that doesn’t work, just delete it and buy a different movie.
