I want to use a camera but I have iMovie for mac can I still use iMovie? If so how do I do it?
I also have windows movie maker but I have no idea how to use it.. ANy suggestions to new softwares or any form of help would be appriciated

When you tell us which camera and which computer, we can tell you how to get the video into iMovie or MovieMaker.
