Question by : If this were a movie would you watch it?
A team of computer programmers decide to set up a virtual universe within a highly advanced group of super computers. They set up the virtual universe so that intelligent life that are actually conscious are able to live inside it. The universe is so complex that it even has virtual atoms and waves of energy.
After setting up the virtual universe the team of programmers design an intelligent life form they call a walump. They place him in a paradise that they designed for him in the virtual world. They tell the walump, “You may drink any drink in this paradise but you must not drink of the drink of the knowledge of good and evil because if you drink of it you will certainly die.” The programmers also design the walump to have free will so that it can choose whether or not to do what they say.
After this the programmers decide to create a companion for the walump from the fingernail of the walump and call her an uswalump. The uswalump is tricked into drinking some of the forbidden drink by a sea creature and then gives it to the walump.
One of the programmers uses an avatar to visit the virtual world and finds out what happened when he realizes that they know they are naked and so the programmers kick the two intelligent life forms out of the paradise and curse the sea creature to have no fins.
The programmers later realize that the whole virtual planet is evil and so they take off it’s atmosphere but have one walump gather two of every kind of virtual life form and put them in a terrariums so that they can repopulate when they bring back the atmosphere.
The virtual life forms continue to sin and the programmers continue to punish them for it. They also use some of the virtual life forms as prophets to relay their messages.
Later one of the programmers lives out a walump life in the virtual world and preaches to a bunch of wolumps and then is tortured by some of the walumps before going to another virtual world to be thrown into liquid nitrogen for three days.
The programmers then tell some walumps that they use as messengers that anyone who accepts the gift of one of them being tortured and then thrown into a lake of liquid nitrogen for three days will be forgiven for their sins and allowed to see the programmers after death, but anyone who does not accept the gift will be thrown into the lake of liquid nitrogen forever after death.
The programmers make it look like everything in virtual universe has a natural explanation and leave no recognizable evidence of their existence. The only evidence that they exist in the simulation is oral stories, telepathy between them and the virtual creatures, and a book they had written but the book is so unbelievable that many walumps having a tough time believing in the programmers and so many end up in the lake of liquid nitrogen.
