Is 72dpi enough to create a 27in x 40in poster?

Question by xeno4444: Is 72dpi enough to create a 27in x 40in poster?
I am making a movie poster at dimensions 27in x 40 in, but I am using 72dpi, would that be enough? I keep seeing that you need at least 300dpi for a poster like that , but would 72dpi be enough? I mean is it still distinguishable? If anyone out there has tried printing on these settings, please do reply.

For good quality it should be at least twice as that and in full size.
And it will be a big file.
