Is it good to promote hacking for a contest?

Question by joejoethefunky: Is it good to promote hacking for a contest?
I read that Kevin Smith, the director of Clerks and Silent Bob, offered a role in his next movie to someone who hacks the most websites and puts an ad for Clerks 2 on there.
1. Isn’t that a stupid contest?
2. Does Clerks 2 suck that bad that it needs that type of advertisement?
3. Does Smith’s movies suck that bad now that he’ll take any super geek who hacks for casting his next movie?
4. Did his view/movies suffer when he became Hollywood?
5. Name 2 director’s who had a similar start and can resist making a Jersey Girl….
I got Wes Anderson (Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Life Aquatic) and Robert Rodriguez, he’s more cheap budget than Hollywood.

That’s not even legal. If someone actually did it and got in trouble a good lawyer could go after Smith for promoting the idea. Just becasue he’s not the one actually doing the hacking doesn’t mean he can wash his hands of it if something bad happens or someone gets in trouble if he’s the one that put them up to it.
