Is the filming/tv production business pretty open?
Question by PackersFan: Is the filming/tv production business pretty open?
As opposed to actors who have to land an agent and then audition for 100 tv shows or movies before maybe, possible, if their stars are all aligned, get their break… how is the movie and tv production business? I recently did a documentary contest and I enjoy making short films, so does that sort of market have a good outlook?
Someone already starred this question…that can’t be a good sign haha.

No, it is just as competitive as acting. Its hard to land a job and when you do work is never constant, so you’re always looking for what you can do next and trying to stay on top. Sometimes people can be without work for years, and i know many people who have had to move to different countries just to find jobs. Also, many kids make short films and documentarys. Get serious about it and get noticed, maybe get some scholarships and there is a better chance you will be noticed, but its still not a good outlook. Still, if its your dream, by all means, follow it. Just don’t expect it to be easy.
